Puppy Linux Usb Iso Download
Xenialpup is built using Woof-CE (woof-CE at GitHub) “The Puppy builder' system, which can build a Puppy Linux distribution from the binary packages of any other distro or home grown packages. Xenialpup is a true community edition 'CE', with contributions from many within the Puppylinux community. Philip Broughton & The Puppylinux team.
- Puppy Linux features built-in tools which can be used to create bootable USB drives, create new Puppy CDs, or remaster a new live CD with different packages. [41] [42] It also uses a sophisticated write-caching system with the purpose of extending the life of live USB flash drives.
- Linux /vmlinuz initrd /initrd.gz } Now u can boot the usb drive as a recognizable uefi boot device, no prob! I read a lot of stuff online/in forums about puppy linux not being able to boot on uefi PC s but thats bollox (moderators are welcome to delete this drunken message if nesecary) CHEERS u lot Kind regards Kjartan.
Hi,
After joining BC, I discovered a cool distro called Puppy Linux, so after some research, I downloaded the iso file here (Ubuntu Xenial 64/XenialPup64 7.5)
I used Rufus to create a live bootable USB drive and here are the contents of the drive (I named my USB drive XenialPup64).

The problem is when I restart my PC, set the boot option to boot from my Kingston DT 101 2.0 (which the BIOS successfully detected), it will load the Grub screen that is missing puppy Linux.
So, I see the Grub boot screen that I always see ever since I successfully installed CentOS alongside my Windows 10 OS. This allows me to boot into my CentOS, Windows 10 and Windows 7 factory recovery partitions, but I don't see any way to boot into my USB and start using Puppy (actually I already selected this device (my USB drive) to boot into, but the Grub screen that appears suggest that my laptop boots into the HDD rather than my USB drive).
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks.
Edit: More info for troubleshooting:
There is no Fastboot or USB boot option in the BIOS, I can either change the boot device from the HDD to the DVD drive or to the USB drive. I make my USB drive the first (priority) option and save the BIOS setting before quitting, but then upon an automatic restart it shows the Grub 2 screen without any sign of Puppy Linux).
Here are my BIOS screenshots (without the USB drive).

Pros
Fast download, burned to CD, booted, created bootable USB- it works! Comes with lots of apps, but is so small that it fits on a USB flashdrive and loads into RAM. Will work on an old machine, even if the hard drive is trashed. Use to rescue data.
Cons
The media player (Gxine) did not work, but I'll try another, like VLC. I'm using the PuppyBrowser, but I think I'll switch to Firefox (it's included). I have not tested every included app with my machine (a Pentium dual core laptop).
Summary
Installing an alternative operating system is easy with this distro of Linux called ?Lucid Puppy.? Download the .iso file, burn it (they recommend burn 'slowly') to a CD with a utility like imgburn, Look on the Puppy website and copy the instructions, including the tutorial on how to get it on a USB drive. The Puppy Linux site has lots of information about what it can do, like; Abiword, a MS Word compatible word processor;
InkscapeLite is a vector drawing program;
Gnumeric an Excel compatible spread sheet;
Seamonkey browser, plus Foxfire, Puppy (which I?m using) and other browsers;
mtPaint is like Windows paint;
SeaMonkey mail and news email client;
ROX is the file manager. This takes the place of Windows explorer.
Ayttm is a chat client.
Osmo the personal organiser.
Internet Connection Wizard .
Scientific and 5 other calculators,
Wizards for hardware,
Screen capture,
.pdf viewer and maker (?PuppyPDF convert to PDF?),
alarm clock;
firewall;
download accelerator; ?Puppy-Podcast-Grabber;?
disc burning utilities, cd/dvd rip?.burn, media players, streaming video,
online Help which includes lots of add-ons.
Read the online info to see how you can get an old computer running ? without having to fix a broken hard drive. Just run the machine from a CD. Newer computers (2001 or so) that boot from USB can go that route. And the system is FAST.
This is my first experience (a couple of hours so far) with Lucid Puppy and I think that this OS could replace Windows (except for running hard-core computer games).
